Imagining Passenger Experiences

Hello, It's the start of the second term and the beginning of Book 2. Good luck! This term will be discussing the different stages of the passenger processing. We start today with passenger experiences. Tell us about a time you have travelled by air. Write about any problems you have had at any step of the process before/ during/ after the flight. 2. Four years ago, I had a very bad flight experience on Qatar airways. I was flying with my French teacher and my friends to France on Qatar airways. On that day, I was wearing a white long blouse with light purple butterflies and purple trousers. During the meal, they asked me what I want to eat fish or meat. And I said I want meat I didn’t know that the meat is in red sauce. So when they brought the meat I was watching a very funny movie while I was eating the meat with spoon and fork. Suddenly the meat with the red sauce felt onto my white blouse and when I was trying to clean my clothes, the aircraft was experiencing air turbulence, half of the meat dish felt on my trousers. I tried hard to clean my clothes, but it was very hard because the blouse was white and the trousers were light purple color. Unfortunately, the flight also was quite long haul flight it took seven hours, so I was with my dirty clothes for seven hours and I was very shy when I arrived at the airport in France. In general as I remember, this flight experience of mine was the worst I’ve ever had.

  3. Three month ago we planned to travel to Kuwait to take our vocation there. We paid online with my father’s credit card and selected our seats. On the day of flight we had our baggage packed, went with my father and arrived at the airport two hours before departure and we checked in. It was very crowded in the airport and there were a lot of problems happened to us there.
Starting with my sister she had taken with her a lot of perfume and the security told her that she couldn’t take it with her and they would throw. My sister was very angry. Then we called my uncle because he works there and he toke her stuff then when we entered the concourse we stayed in Costa café waiting for our flight. Then we went to the gates and I remember that I forgot my mobile at the café. After that we went back to the café and we didn’t find it then we went to the security and we asked them about my mobile then they asked my some question and then they gave it to me. My father was very nervous because we are late. Finally we went to the gates and we were the last people to enter the airplane.

  4. Two years ago in the summer me and my cousin Omar visited London to study general English and get to know the British people more.
Starting in Doha airport, my brother guided me to where I should go and what steps I should do first thing in London Heathrow airport , though my cousin was with me we found some trouble in the check in procedure such as when they asked about the flight number and we didn’t find any information in the ticket except the ticket number not the flight number . However, the check in manager managed to get the details by the computer and he let us in and showed us where to get our boarding passes.
When we got our boarding passes we went to Costa cafe to drink something while there were a couple of minutes before opening the gate to the airplane. After about fifteen minutes we went to the gate and showed them the passes and got in the shuttle bus we went in the airplane but unfortunately my seat in the plane was far away from my cousin’s seat. As it was a long haul flight which means it will take more than seven hours or about that, so I went to talk to the man who was sitting near my cousin to change our seats he was very kind and didn’t mind. However, first when we arrived in London Heathrow airport we went to passport control to stamp both me and my cousin’s visas and after that we went to get our luggage. We took a taxi to the hotel and it was the begging of an exciting trip.

  5. In 2009 I traveled from Morocco to Doha i was with my friend and he had overweight baggage .Also his flight was two days after my flight .He asked me if i could carry some of his baggage , i told him i was happy to do that.

He gave me hi baggage and because i didn’t have too much baggage I put my baggage and my friend baggage in the same suitcase. He went with me to the airport, he said good bye to me and we arranged to meet you in Doha after two days.
Unfortunately when I arrived at Doha international airport i couldn’t find the baggage , was so angry, and I went to the office of lost baggage and the staff there told me to fill a report . I did all of that and they told me if they could find it they would call me, but they didn't do it .
After one week i called them and they said I could come to see in the airport store they were a lot bags but i didn't find mine.
I had to wait for 2 more weeks. My friend was angry because he lost important things in his baggage .Any way we spent more a two months without finding the baggage.
Finally I gave the baggage tag to my friend to try with the airport staff but no thins new and at the and we decided to get money and they gave as more than $400. I was happy more than my friend.

  6. Two years ago my father decided to send me to the USA to study English. I was happy when I heard that, because at that time I didn’t know any English and I wanted to improve my language. However I went to Qatar Airways to purchase a ticket but there were not available seats for the date that I wanted. So I found a seat in Royal Jordanian airlines. I transferred from Qatar to Amman to stay a night. Then in the morning on the next day I flew to Illinois State, Chicago city. The trip was long around 14 hours. In the whole flight I couldn’t sleep, because there was a old man sitting with his wife behind me so when I want to modify the seat to be ready to sleep, he said that they want to rest and we are old and called me “my son”. It was funny.I made friend with the person who was sitting next to me. So in the whole trip I was talking to him. In addition to that, I was thinking “why I should go there, if I stay in Qatar I will study hard”.

However, when I arrived to Chicago airport I was lost and I didn’t know which way I should go, because we arrived in the mid night. While I saw group of people were walking, I followed them. When I arrived to the passport control, a police man called me and said “you have to fill an application. I was standing like for 15 minutes, I didn’t know English. An Arabic woman saw me and helped me with that application. Then I passed from passport control and I thought I finished everything. I went to took my suitcase and bags. Suddenly, a police man called me again and said that you have again fill a lot of applications for Immigration and Passport. I felt extremely tired. I found there was slightly disappointed to see the queue. So I fill the applications and gave it to the police and I was waiting for another 15 minutes again to called me. When they called me they asked a lot of questions for example, where do you stay?, for how long do you want stay? and which university you will study? And there was a woman to translate in Arabic. When I answered all questions they leave me to go.

Finally, I was happy when I finished everything. Eventually after 40 minutes, I saw my cousin and he was waiting for me. So I want out with him and the weather was snowing.
