The ticketing is the first step in passenger processing of booking and purchasing a ticket. Today the ticketing happens through a network of computer- based reservation system via the internet and this ticketing is called e-ticketing. This form of airline ticket became mandatory for IATA members as of June 1, 2008.
ReplyDeleteYou can book and purchase an e-ticket by researching the price and the availability, choose airline and use a credit card to make a purchase. And the ticket contains flight details which is the itinerary that includes time and destination, passenger details which includes passenger information and meal preference, price details, fare conditions and information and contact details.
There are many benefits of electronic ticketing for passenger and airlines. First for passengers they do not need to worry of losing the ticket, they do not need to wait in the queue and it is more convenient – easier. Airlines can save money about $ 3 billion a year and it is can help to save the environment.
The future of ticketing is self service model without airline assistance.

The electronic ticket became mandatory for IATA members as of June 2008. it saves time, there no need to queue and it easier for all the passenger. In addition the airlines encourage passengers to book online because the e-ticket saves a lot of money, as for IATA record about 3 billion dollar saved by switching to the electronic ticket.
The information that is contained in the ticket is passenger details such as the full name and contact information such as the mobile number or the business email, the price of the ticket, the type of the ticket and the flight details such as the flight number and the locator code.

Also, no need to queue. Finally, e-ticket is more convenient and easier. On the other hand, there are benefits for airlines such as saving money ($ 3 billion a year they needed to change the ticket from ticketing in paper to electronic ticketing), also it’s more environmentally and friendly (to cut cost). There are two main systems of ticketing computer reservation system (CRS) and which is used by specific airline, and global distribution system (GDS) used by travel agencies to make reservation to separate customers on different airlines . The CRS has connected with the GDS.

There are different types of tickets, like economy, business, first class and open tickets. Also some tickets are refundable, like business and first class however some tickets are non refundable such as economy and they carry a lot of restrictions.
To book and purchase an e-ticket you need only to go to the airline website which you want to travel by. Then the passenger has to provide details like personal information and destination, class of travel, date of journey and type of ticket. Finally he/she can pay by credit card; he/she will get a receipt and number of reservation.
